Palin-- Republican Party Infiltrator?

The title for this post was taken directly from Mudflats, a progressive blog from Alaska that has posted what I think is a dynamite video that has the possibility of causing trouble for Palin-- if it could get enough exposure.

We all know that Palin is said to have been a member of the Alaska Independence Party (AIP), which is essentially a secessionist movement with the aim of making Alaska a sovereign country. Palin and the Republicans deny membership by Sarah, but it IS a given that Tod Palin was a registered member of the AIP from 1995 to 2002, when he reregistered as an undeclared voter.

The video in question is a recording from a meeting of the AIP.  In it, the Vice Chairman (Dexter Clark) essentially implies that Sarah Palin is operating as a kind of infiltrator of the Republican Party in order to further the goals of the AIP.

Here's the video from YouTube (it's a long one):

For those of you on dialup, here is a partial transcript, courtesy of Mudflats:

Now, we get to the good part, just before 6:00 on the video.

"Our current governor, we mentioned at the last conference, the one we were hoping would get elected, Sarah Palin, did get elected. There's a joke, she's a pretty good looking gal, there's a joke goes around we're the coldest state with the hottest governor. (laughter) And there was a lot of talk about her moving up. She was an AIP member before she got the job as a mayor of a small town -- that was a non-partisan job. But to get along and go along -- she eventually joined the Republican Party, where she had all kinds of problems with their ethics, and well, I won't go into that. She also had about an 80% approval rating, and is pretty well sympathetic to her former membership."

There is a great deal more; if you can, you should watch the whole video and you should also visit Mudflats regularly for lots of good information, and for more transcripts from this video.

My thought is that the AIP could be Palin's Rev. Wright, or Bill Ayers-- IF she can be thoroughly tied to it. We should all be aware by now of the basics of that organization, and the fact that the MSM has pretty much dropped the ball on it. But a video that goes viral demands attention, and even if the guy in this video is just a nutcase he DEFINITELY ties Palin to the Party. If we could get a 30-second loop playing over and over (as was done with the Rev. Wright video) it might have enough of an effect on the undecided voters to make a difference.

There are a lot of low information voters out there who are unlikely to be reached by facts about the TransCanada gas pipeline or Troopergate, etc. But secession? Conspiracy? Well, that's an attention getter. And since hubby Tod has been proven to have been a member, it might just rub off.

What do you think???

MSM, via Charlie Gibson of ABC, has already rules this out of bounds for his interview. Now we will see what happens, if it can be gotten out. If the big three and Fox have determined to smother it, I don't have big hopes here.

Well then, how about this line of attack (none / 0)

Sarah Palin wants to send Alaska's natural gas to China and Canada-- not to the Lower 48-- and wants YOU to pay for it!

...The deal is extremely concerned with ensuring that TransCanada is guaranteed a profit. The deal relies on loan guarantees, earmarks, appropriations and open-ended financial commitments from the Federal Government (aka US Taxpayers) to build and complete the pipeline. In return, there are no guarantees that the natural gas from the North Slope of Alaska will ever make it to the lower Forty-Eight States.

The Palin Pipeline will only move gas to Alberta, Canada. But it also offers a plan to divert some of the gas for shipment to China in the form of Liquid Natural Gas from a yet to be built facility in Valdez, Alaska.

Re: Well then, how about this line of attack (2.00 / 1)

I agree on the pipeline. My own favorite most awful provision is that, in order to prevent what her supporters call 'bait and switch', she put a provision in the enabling legislation which requires her state to pay Treble Damages if the state hereafter gives any serious financial incentives to any other pipeline project which does not win AGIA approval. That would include pumphead tax changes which her own letter of January 9, 2008 might be required based on information not yet at hand. So what she has done is tried to tie the hands of the next administration who does not support the TransCanada pipeline to Alberta, with a huge financial penalty which Alaska taxpayers will be paying, if that new governor tries to change her plans. Of course, that also puts into second place her half Billion dollar underwriting, on a shared basis, of the costs of getting the permit work and related engineering and the like done. If the Transcanada project does not get through the permitting process, that money is lost.

And there is a competing pipeline project which does not get Alaska financial help like this, and it is further along in the FERC permitting process and will have its open season, when pumphead companies commit to use it to transport gas, in 2010, by present estimates.

Alaska people have rationalizations for some of this, but not that make any sense to me. Especially the treble damages.

She also left all Native American land use claims, a huge problem, to Transcanada to sort out.

Even if she's not, she obviously doesn't have a problem with the AIP.  Check out this video, which contains some audio from the AIP founder and Palin's adress to the their "convention" (while Governor):

The fires of Hell are glaciers compared to my hate for the American Government, and I won't be buried under their damned flag!

-Joe Vogler, AIP Founder

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Vogler:

Vogler disappeared under suspicious circumstances in May 1993.  Convicted thief Manfried West confessed to having murdered Vogler the following year in what he described as a plastic explosives sale gone bad. Vogler's remains were discovered in a gravel pit east of Fairbanks in October 1994 following an anonymous tip. They had been wrapped in a blue tarp secured with duct tape and were identified through fingerprint analysis.
